Taika Okahara created Sumie paintings which are used in NHK new year special TV program “Rising Jakuchu” and directed how to draw the paintings for actors.
Jakuchu Ito, who is the title role of this historical TV drama, is called ‘eccentric painter’, And his works having rich originality attract many people even today.
In order to make this TV drama program, Taika Okahara drew more than 100 paintings in various sizes and acted dubbed shots of the actors when drawing paintings.

In the sense of how I can get closer to the line quality of the Sumie painters in the Edo era who drew ” drawing” instead of “painting”, which is the mainstream of contemporary Japanese painting, I think it was a kind of challenge myself.
